ALLEN COUNTY, Ind. (WPTA21) - Allen County Health Commissioner Dr. Matthew Sutter wants residents to keep practicing COVID-19 precautions.

But Sutter on Thursday stopped short of keeping a local mask mandate in place, instead recommending people continue to stay vigilant with mask-wearing, social distancing, and other safety measures even as state-wide mandates are being rolled back next week.

Restaurants and bars have been among the most impacted by stay-at-home orders, capacity limits, and mask mandates.

Though government safety restrictions in Allen County are largely about to go away, certain dining and entertainment establishments are not going back to the way things used to be, at least not yet.

We spoke to James Khan, the owner of the Hoppy Gnome, Proximo, and the Baker Street Steakhouse in Fort Wayne.

Khan says safety restrictions he has been enforcing for months will essentially stay in place in the short-term.
