FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA21) - The pandemic is devastating the food industry in Indiana, with a study from Ball State University showing 41 percent of restaurant-owners reporting financial problems.

A professor with the school says almost half of the 300,000 Hoosiers working in the restaurant industry are facing unemployment or drastically-reduced hours.

Many restaurants are doing everything they can to stay open, often getting creative to entice customers.

Hop River Brewing Company in Fort Wayne is beginning to offer free delivery to homes within three miles of their restaurant.

"Because we're struggling," M.C. Lowenstein, Director of Marketing at Hop River admitted. "We're constantly looking for ways to provide safe ways for people to enjoy beer, whether it be here in the taproom or at home. And this is just another out-of-the-box way to think within the box of our delivery location."
